Outdoor Adventure
Cradled among the rolling hills of South Texas, Bulverde Spring Branch is filled with natural attractions and an expanding public park system. Rolling green hills meet stone outcroppings; rock cliffs give way to clear rivers, and wildflowers dot the landscape. It’s the perfect place to enjoy open vistas, wildlife areas, spectacular scenery and meet friendly people along the way.
With a wide variety of outdoor activities and attractions, including the Guadalupe River State Park, Honey Creek State Natural Area, Upper Guadalupe River and Canyon Lake, residents seldom complain of a lack of things to do. On any given day, visitors to Guadalupe State Park can be seen kayaking, tubing and swimming in the river while children search for turtles and frogs. Deep pools entice fishermen with bass and catfish. Hiking trails beckon to birdwatchers.
Adjacent to the park, the Honey Creek State Natural Area offers two miles of interpretive nature trails featuring an array of geology, flora and fauna. The Upper Guadalupe River is perfect for rafting, fly fishing and canoeing. Nearby Canyon Lake is another popular destination and offers 80 miles of scenic shoreline and opportunities to go boating, fishing and swimming.
Closer to town is the Bulverde Spring Branch parks system with plenty of space for energetic recreation. In fact, the Bulverde Community Park, encompassing 13 acres of land, provides public playgrounds, practice fields, shaded and unshaded picnic areas, an event gazebo and a water splash pad. The City also helps facilitate and sponsor community events at the park, such as Movies in the Park, and Spring and Fall Musik in the Park programs.
Kleck Park is another local favorite located on 43 acres of densely wooded ranchland with 1.2 miles of hiking trails. Sixteen birdhouses along the path are marked with signs describing local avian species. Visitors can walk, bike, hike or even ride horseback through the scenic area
