Bulverde Spring Branch Emergency Services (BSBES) was founded in 1978 as a rural emergency services organization funded by bake sales and barbecues. In our infancy, we transported out of a converted station wagon. Those humble beginnings remind us of how much we have achieved and the progress we have made, yet we know to meet the needs of our citizens, we must remain vigilant in our operations and training, as well as addressing growth in our area.
In our large and mostly rural District (216 square miles), station placement is a critical part of our strategic planning. Time is of the essence when a medical emergency call is received. Structure fires also require fast action, and likewise, in the Hill Country, if brush fires are not contained immediately, the fuel from underbrush and the fast igniting cedar trees can consume acres and threaten homes and other property. BSBES maintains five stations to be of service to the community, with the newest addition at 215 Rebecca Creek Road.
