Here in the heart of Culver City, the Exceptional Children’s Foundation (ECF) is well-positioned to provide a lifespan of services to over 5,000 individuals each year.

Kayne Eras School, operated by ECF and co-located with the organization’s administrative offices on Machado Road, provides students ages 5-22 with special needs a range of highly-specialized, high-quality services to empower them to succeed academically and reach their greatest potential.

Special Education & Supports

The Kayne Eras Center includes a K-12 special education school focused on the philosophy that every child can learn. An individualized, intensive and innovative curriculum coupled with strong supports to meet the unique needs of each student and family results in exceptional outcomes.

The Kayne Eras School is fully-accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), a distinction earned by few non-public special education schools, and assuring students and families the highest quality of education and commitment to service excellence.

A general education curriculum is available for diploma-track and college-bound students, as well as an alternate curriculum track for students requiring a modified educational program.

Students benefit from small class sizes with a student to staff ratio of 5:1. An integrated team of teachers, counselors and therapists coordinate academics, behavioral therapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and educational therapy, helping each student learn how to learn.

A robust enrichment program offers students opportunities to participate in performing and visual arts, music and drama, technology training, adaptive physical education and community service—all of which focus on increasing self-esteem while developing teamwork and leadership skills.

Mental Health Services

At the Kayne Eras Center, licensed and credentialed therapists address the complex issues and barriers that can challenge students from learning at their full potential. A range of interventions and treatments are offered to support the healthy development and growth of students and their families. These services are also available to students from other schools in the surrounding community.

Graduation & Beyond

Kayne Eras Center offers pre-vocational and vocational training through on-site classes and off-site internships and at local community colleges. Kayne Eras Center graduates are supported in transitioning into colleges, advancing to trade schools or community jobs. ECF also offers an array of adult programs, including Exceptional Community Connections for volunteering, ECF Art Centers, Exceptional Works for employment experience and placement and a Residential Services program.
